What is a Smart Security System?

A smart security system integrates various smart technologies, to provide users with an all-in-one remote app control solution, for security, home automation and video surveillance.

Smart security platforms typically include wireless sensors (e.g. door/window contacts, motion detectors, glassbreak detectors, carbon monoxide sensors, smoke detectors, etc.), security cameras, and other automation devices connected to a central hub or control panel designed to monitor, alert, or respond to security incidents. Nowadays, security systems can be accessed and monitored remotely by the end user (and/or together with GeoArm professional central station) through a smartphone app or computer connection. These smart security systems can also include features like voice control, facial recognition, and automation, allowing users to set up customized security settings and receive notifications in real-time if there is a security issue.

GeoArm's security systems are used in many settings, such as homes, businesses, government facilities, and other public spaces. These systems are designed to be easy to use, flexible, and customizable to fit the user's specific needs with the goal of detecting and preventing intrusions, theft, or other security breaches.

Security cameras, video doorbells, and other security measures can act as effective deterrents for potential criminals, and can also help to increase the likelihood that perpetrators are caught and brought to justice. Moreover, the mere knowledge that a security system is present can often discourage criminals from targeting a particular home or business in the first place.

Studies have consistently shown that the presence of security systems can significantly reduce the incidence of crime. According to statistics, homes without a security system are up to 300% more likely to be targeted by burglars. In the United States, a burglary occurs every 23 seconds, and in about 60% of those cases, the burglars gained entry to the home through forcible entry (such as breaking a window or kicking in a door). However, homes with a security system are much less likely to be targeted, and if a burglar does attempt to break in, the alarm system often scares them off before they are able to enter the home. Additionally, if a burglar does manage to enter a home with a security system, the average amount stolen is much lower than in homes without security measures in place.
