Qolsys QS7120-840 Hardwired 8 Translator:

The Qolsys QS7120-840 IQ Hardwire 8 is the perfect device to allow hardwired systems to leverage the powerful IQ Panel. The ground-breaking QS7120-840 translator allows up to 8 hardwired devices to be "taken over" from any existing control panel. The QS7120-840 is a "problem solver" that allows a seamless use of existing security system features (e.g. sirens, contacts, motion detectors, glassbreak detectors) with no additional equipment needed. The IQ Hardwire QS7120-840 automatic EOL (end-of-line) resistor learning spans from 1k-10k oHms ending the hours of wire splicing you'd normally encounter in an existing system. With a backup battery recharging circuit, 500 amp power supply and siren relay it's ideal for new construction as well. Please note, this hardwired translator is not for use with life safety devices, such as smoke or carbon monoxide (CO) detectors.

Please note, the QS7120-840 translator doesn't have enough power output (to power Motions, Glass Breaks, etc) for most hardwired sensors. The QS7120-840 has only enough power output for hardwired door/window contacts. So, assuming your existing hardwired system is still up and running, you would simply leave the existing hardwired can (metal box with all the wires) powered up. Make sure to leave the power wires from those particular hardwired sensors (Motion, Glass Breaks, etc.) plugged into the existing system so that they continue to get their power. Then, you just need to transfer only the data wires over and plug them into the QS7120-840 hardwired 8 translator. This setup will allow the translator to translate the sensors, and will allow the existing older system to continue to power these specific sensors (Motion, Glass Breaks, etc.).
